Tearing Free
Breaking away from the bonds that hold you back

In his latest light painting series, Tearing Free, photographer Chris Griffith confronts the invisible forces that burdens us - mental strains, emotional ties, or physical constraints – moment of their rupture in a single, unedited frame.
Each photograph captures a visceral act of release, translating the abstract concept into an image that invites viewers to experience the tension between bondage and liberation.

Behind The Series
Through this series, Griffith asks the audience to reconsider how liberation is visualized and understood. By marrying the most contemporary photographic techniques with the age old motif of fine art, he creates work that is both technically forward looking and deeply human. Tearing Free becomes a visual essay on the act of ripping away what holds us back, inviting contemplation, offering catharsis, and affirming that the act of becoming free is itself an art form.
